Indian Summer zip pouch

After today, I’m no longer going to acknowledge the fact that for every one quilt I sew, I’ve probably made ten zip pouches.  I’m still a quilter and always will be, but the pouches are instant gratification and make me HAPPY.  I am hereby absolving myself of quilt-blogger-who-excessively-posts-about-zip-pouches guilt.

Oh, look, another zip pouch I made.  Wee!

This one was for my cousin, Mika, an uber talented graphic design student who helped me design some new quilt labels [for the quilts I pretend to sew while I’m actually making zippy pouches]. I made it longer and narrow so she can keep artsy drawing tools in it.

I’m really loving Sarah Watson’s Indian Summer collection, especially combined with black yarn-dyed Essex.  I’m nearly finished making a Sew Together Bag with this same fabric combo (it’s been sitting untouched at my sewing desk for almost a week, with only the last step left to do).  Here’s a quick peek at how it’s coming together, courtesy of my Instagram feed:

    Hello Marta
I love the multi pockets zips pouch. Do you have a pattern or a tutorial, please?

[…] always wanted to make one of these–and almost did a couple of years ago, except the funny thing about that story is that it ends with me lighting the bag on fire […]
