A simple patchwork quilt top and my new sewing space

Last week I moved my sewing room upstairs.  It used to be in our basement because we didn’t have air conditioner and it was just too hot to sew and press upstairs.  Now that we have a/c, though, I was able to move my sewing space up into the light!  Here are the before and after shots of my unpacking:

Ta-da!  When we first brought everything upstairs it looked like I might never find a place for it all!  However, being the determined cleany beany that I am, I easily found a spot for each of my goodies.  This has always been my favorite room in our house, so I’m really happy to be sewing in here.

My first creation in my new space is a simple patchwork quilt top made from 6″ charm squares, all from the Pretty Little Things fabric collection.  In hindsight, I would’ve left out some of the prints and maybe thrown in some solids, but I’m still happy with this guy and think it’s a great summer quilt.  I will quilt and bind it as soon as my backing fabric arrives, hopefully later this week.  As this is a work in progress, I’m linking up to W.I.P. Here Layla is again, this time with a meaner mug. I have another dog (black lab, Zeppelin), but he never seems to care about my quilts. Only my glamour girl shows up for me.
