Happy Mother’s Day! Our grass is green and freshly mown, the tulips are in full bloom (more on those later), the weather is beyond lovely, and family time was laid back and fun. What a treasure today was.
Yesterday was beautiful too, but I spent most of it inside embroidering a gift for my mom. She’s totally worth a beautiful day spent inside.
Łysia is the random nickname my dad gave my mom a long time ago, and “Moja Łysia”–pronounced moya wisha–just means “My Łysia” in Polish. I used Sublime Stitching’s Skinny Letters pattern for that part and separate templates from Embroidered Effects for the bird and the heart. I’ve only embroidered a handful of times (the last being my name tag), so this project took me alllll day.
When I finished the embroidery, I layered two pieces of white fabric onto the back, then a cut out a circle from poster board (the thick kind), and squeezed it into the back of the hoop. Then I neatly folded the excess fabric over the back of the poster board and used Elmer’s spray glue to hold it down. Lastly, I cut a circle out of a manila folder, sprayed that with glue as well, and stuck it on. This method may be a little janky, but it works for me.
I don’t have human kids, but my furry ones asked me to wish you and yours a happy Mother’s Day.
