Merry Christmas from Alpine Wonderland! Here’s a little table runner I whipped up last night to bring even more Christmas spirit to my home. What’s more festive and fun than Nordic Christmas scenes? Nothing, that’s what.
I realized as I was photographing this little guy this morning that it could easily serve as a wall hanging, too. I can’t decide which way I like best. What do you think?
I made three 15″ wonky log cabin blocks, then added a 2.5″ strip of white around the perimeter of the whole runner. For the back, I just pieced together strips and large blocks from my leftover fabric. Finished, it measures 18.5″ x 47″ and is a great size for my dining table.
I also tried out some swirly quilting from Angela Walters’ book and though my quilting is FAR from perfect, I love the way the swirls lend even more whimsy to the already adorable holiday scenes.
While you’re eating a delicious meal and celebrating with your family, keep the citizens of Newtown and the rest of the less fortunate parts of the world in your hearts and be ever grateful. I know I will.
Here’s to a white Colorado Christmas (fingers crossed!), lots of love and joy, and solace and comfort for those in the midst of a not-so-merry Christmas.

I love that fabric! Merry Christmas
Love the fab and swirly stitching. Pretty pretty. Merry merry!
Love it both ways… it would be hard to choose. It is wonderful
That’s a toss up- it’s so cute either way! The back is adorbs too! Well done, my little elfy poo. :)
It looks great! I love your swirls, too- I was just reading that book this morning and wondering if I’m ready to try swirls- yours look fantastic!
Beautiful! I love that you “whipped up” something so cute. Go you! I like it as a wall hanging, but only because then you can see all three of the cute little pictures.
I really like your quilting design–looks like swirling snow! I may have to check that book out. I did my first FMQ this past week on two separate projects, and I was surprised to find that it was pretty fun! I was so nervous to try it, but now I see myself using it a lot. There will be photos of my triumphs and failures in this realm soon. :)
Merry Christmas to you!
P.S. I just noticed it snows at the top of your blog. That is neat.
That looks lovely,
Where do you find the time. Hope you had a lovely christmas day.
